JAZZ
Jazz was my life until about the age of 30. I was taught trombone by Jack Quinby, Marc Wolters and Howard Lamb. I was taught improvisation by Thara Memory. A year and a half before joining the Navy band, I started training my ear by transcribing 6 hours a day while I worked a night job. I had a pretty nice stack of transcriptions by the time I joined the Navy. By the time I got out of the Navy, I damn near had perfect pitch.

All of these recordings were made in 1999 and 2000. They were all recorded with a miniDisc recorder. I had a lot of fun playing jazz for the Navy officers.

Here's the music as linked mp3's:

It was fun doing this multitracking without synthsizers.

These next two songs are on a Navy gig. We were playing about 2 gigs a week like this. Johnathan Moore is on piano. Steve Shellhammer on conga drums and my good friend Spencer Powell on bass.

The next three are the Navy big band lead by trombonist Ron Davis.
